What is VITEK EXPRESS?
VITEK EXPRESS combines the accuracy and reliability of VITEK® MS technology with the convenience of outsourcing to bring industrial manufacturers rapid microbial identifications. In the rare case that a suitable ID cannot be obtained using VITEK MS, the isolate will be tested by gene sequencing and a match to the database will be provided. In some cases, a public database will be used.

What services does VITEK EXPRESS offer?
VITEK EXPRESS offers bacteria, yeast and mold identification (ID) using either the VITEK MS® (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time of Flight or MALDI-TOF technology) or gene sequencing. Our extensive VITEK MS knowledge base contains industry sourced species of bacteria and fungi including mold. Built using our robust strain collection approach, our knowledge base contains more than 42,000 spectra with at least 10 strains per species. Our gene sequencing technology utilizes dependable 16s rDNA sequencing which is the industry standard to identify most organisms at the species level.

What turnaround times are available?
We currently offer identification results in 2 days, 5 days and 10 days. The turnaround time is selected at the time the order is placed online and begins when the isolates are received by our identification lab.
